Networking, networking, networking. That’s a commonly heard theme in Sauder and in the accounting industry.
But what about the importance of mentorship?
UBC Accounting Club is pleased to present Engage: UBCAC Mentorship Night. This is a new event hosted by the UBC Accounting Club where you have the opportunity to have one-on-one chats with experienced student mentors.
Date: Thursday, February 9th, 2017
Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Registration begins at 5:45 PM)
Location: CPA Hall
Dress Code: Business Casual
Cost: Free for Accounting Club members; $10 for non-members (includes 2016-2017 membership)
To apply: Fill out this Google Form: https://goo.gl/forms/
We’ll be matching students interested in learning about studying or a career in accounting with other, more experienced students who have worked in public accounting, industry, government, and international countries. You’ll initially be paired with one mentor, but throughout the night you’ll have the chance to meet and chat with a number of other students, so you may come out of this event with one or more new mentorship opportunities!
Companies that our mentors have worked at include the National 7 public accounting firms, Re-Max, the Auditor General of Canada, Vancouver International Airport, Telus, and many others. But don’t worry, this is a mentorship night, so treat them as peers not firm reps!
**To ensure a one-to-one ratio and a welcoming environment, we have very limited spots available and will be selecting students based on the quality of their responses. If selected, you will be notified before January 31st, 2017 and will be given a RSVP deadline.**
